The Science and Technology Campus Corporation (SciTech) has a mission to foster and encourage research affiliations and linkages between the university and private business, governmental entities, and nonprofit research organizations.
SciTech, with support from The Ohio State University, the city of Columbus and the state of Ohio, provides space, research and development opportunities for new and existing high technology companies.
Formed in 1996 by The Ohio State University to further development of a research park on West Campus.
Located along Kinnear Rd. west of Kenny Rd., the park began with 52 acres and 393,000 square feet of laboratory, research and office space.
Key properties initially were in three buildings – at 1929 Kenny Rd., at 1224 Kinnear Rd. and the largest of the three at 1275 Kinnear Rd, a former mattress factory later split into two buildings.
Additional acreage and buildings were gradually added, including 1381 Kinnear Rd. in 2001, 1330 Kinnear Rd. in 2011, 1212-1218 Kinner Rd. in 2012 and most recently 1066 Kinnear Rd.
The additions have given SciTech more than 56 acres and 444,000 square feet in eight buildings dedicated to specialized laboratories, research and entrepreneurial development.
The facilities include some of the most advanced research spaces in the world, including a semiconductor class 100 cleanroom in Science Village at 1381 Kinnear Rd. and the Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis (CEMAS) at 1305 Kinnear Rd., one of the top five scanning microscope centers in the world.
Today, more than 50 tenants dedicated to advanced materials, automotive, educational and entrepreneurial pursuits are housed throughout the space under SciTech’s domain.
